Cryptocurrencies are all the rage, and it’s not just your every day financial trader that’s taking advantage of the potential in the market. In fact, several Celebrities have gotten involved in the cryptocurrency space. So, who are these celebs? Here are just a few:
50 Cent Forgets About Millions In Bitcoin
While many have made fortunes in the cryptocurrency space, there are only a handful of forgotten bitcoin growing into millions. Rapper, 50 Cent is one of the few that made millions as the result of bitcoin he forgot he had. Back in 2014, 50 Cent accepted bitcoin as a form of purchase for his album Animal Ambition. At the time, he received 700 bitcoins that were worth $660 each. Over time, the famed rapper completely forgot about his stockpile of bitcoin. However, in January of this year, he remembered that he had some of the cryptocurrency. By the time he found it, his 700 bitcoins were worth approximately $8 million.
Nas – Another Rapper That Got Into The Crypto-Craze
Back in 2014, Nas became yet another celebrity that endorsed the idea of cryptocurrency. In fact, in an interview, he said that cryptocurrency could be as big, if not bigger, than the internet. He even went on to offer bitcoin as a reward for his trivia contest at The Rap Test website. At the time, he explained that he and his team had been collecting bitcoin for more than a year. If this was the case, he likely purchased some of his stash at around $100. If he held it long enough and sold it at the right time, Nas likely made a massive amount of money on move.
Ashton Kutcher Invests In Bitcoin And Blockchain
Ashton Kutcher, an accomplished actor, has had a pretty profitable relationship with technology over the past decade or so. Not only was he an early investor in companies like Airbnb and Uber, he has also portrayed an interest in the cryptocurrency space. In fact, back in May of 2014, he became one of the first celebrity cryptocurrency enthusiasts as he tweeted about Ethereum. From there, Ethereum became one of the largest cryptocurrencies in the world, likely netting Kutcher a hefty sum on whatever investment he made in the crypto. However, outside of cryptocurrencies themselves, Kutcher is also investing in blockchain technology. In fact, he invested in a bitcoin processing service known as Bitbay as well.
Mike Tyson Ties Bitcoin To His Brand
Famous boxer, Mike Tyson is also a celebrity endorser of cryptocurrency. However, unlike most, his enthusiasm with the space didn’t stop with simply tweeting about or purchasing cryptocurrency. In fact, in late 2015, Mike Tyson partnered with Bitcoin Direct. Through the partnership, the team would release Bitcoin ATMs branded with Tyson’s image. In January of 2016, the boxer and Bitcoin Direct announced that a new digital Bitcoin wallet would be released. Through the app, users could buy and exchange cryptocurrency through the Tyson branded application.
At the end of the day, there is a ton of interest in cryptocurrency from people in all walks of life. From day traders to celebrities, retirees and more, everyone seems to have an interest in this emerging industry.
